Aloha,
Does anyone know where you can rent a wheelchair van in Hilo/Puna?
I've already tried Wheelers Van Rentals (Kona only) and left a message with Wheelchair Getaways. Is there a local place that does it? This would be for 10 days in February.
Anyone who will deliver to Hilo Airport is fine.

Have you tried Harper? They have an amazing range of vehicles, but I don't know if they have a wheelchair van. Could be worth a call.

Try calling the medical social workers at Hilo Medical Center ( (808) 932-3250 ). Maybe they have some suggestions or contacts

Thanks for the help but Wheelers Van Rentals only does Kona.
I called and emailed Wheelchair Getaways but no response as yet.
The list is useful but I'm looking to rent a van and it only lists two parties for that - the ones mentioned above.
I called the Hilo Medical Center but they said they don't have that information.
Not so easy to rent a wheelchair van around here it seems!

Contact Senior services on Kinoole, they are the people who issue the handicap permits, they might be able to help.

For the price of a rental, it might be possible to build a pretty butch road-wheelchair...
