That is amazing. Also all the bullfrogs and tadpoles mysteriously disappeared from our pond one day... all of a sudden. And a few weeks later, we saw one frog and one tadpole.
The article also says,
"To travel from one big pond to the next, the bullfrogs hop between small ponds interspersed throughout the arid landscape covered in grass and mesquite. "The wetter the year, the farther they will go," Suhre said. "
I guess any wet indentation could do here, and the heavily forested areas do have places that can stay wet a long time inbetween rains even as porous as our soil is.
