Another fatal shooting by police in Hilo

Hawaii News Now is reporting that a police officer in Hilo fatally shot a man and a pit bull this afternoon. The man was apparently brandishing a knife, and the pit bull had gone after some paramedics who had responded to a call at the location off West Kawailani St. Here's a link:

Seems like a lot of crazy, out of control people around here mixing it up with the cops this past year.

I drove past the scene yesterday on my way out of town. Police had Kawailani blocked off at Hwy 11 & Kileauea, at least 10 police cars throughout the cordoned off area. Maybe more police as some cars were unmarked. It wa probably after the fact, but the situation still looked tense.
