Primary Elections tomorrow (Saturday)
#1
Get to the polls! Or hopefully you already voted early or by mail. If you're not registered, it is too late to vote tomorrow in the primary election but you can still register in time to vote in the general election in November. The state election website can verify if you are registered, where your polling place is, who the candidates are and has sample ballots to review.
Polls will be open 7am to 6pm.
Yes you'll tell me to post this in the political page (but I believe everyone needs to know)
Yes you'll post that voting is stupid.
Yes you will hijack this thread and make it about everything else under the sun.
But maybe someone will see this and learn something helpful, and that'll be worth all the negative comments.
Aloha...

did you know you can sign up for permanent absentee status, and always vote by mail?
waaaay more convenient than voting in a booth. Don't even need a stamp.

probably too late for this election...

If you do get a mailed ballot, make absolutely sure that the envelopes have not stuck together BEFORE you seal them...if there is any hint that they have been opened, your vote most likely will go into the "spoiled" vote pile. This was a problem last election, when our precinct was one of the few that had no polling place. Ballots were mailed out during stormy weather & most of our precinct received envelopes that were pre-sealed...it took some of us 2 mailings (at what cost???) to finally get envelopes that had a slip of paper between the gummed areas of the envelopes, and not pre-sealed... I would have walk-in voted, but the open times & my job were the same...

The wife's working the poll at Pahoa HS. Hours: 5:30 AM to 7:30 PM. Yeesh! Tough gig. I brought her lunch. Maybe bring her dessert when you go? Or, a smile, anyway. Be nice to our voting booth volunteers!
