"new" Amazon frustration
#11
"If they've already charged your credit card, that's a type of "fraud"."

Amazon doesn't charge until they ship... though misleading you into thinking you have bought an item can also be considered a type of fraud since you are less likely to look for the item elsewhere. At the minimum it is a "bait and switch". Bait you into buying an item they don't have and switch you into waiting until they get it.

"You aren't looking closely enough at your transactions. Just because it is from the Amazon site doesn't mean it is from Amazon."

The item is listed as "Sold and fulfilled by Amazon" and listed as "in stock" and "Prime". It is actually none of those things. It's just a ghost listing on their web site of a product they don't have and are not sure when they will have it. I have a seller's account on Amazon and have sold product through them as a third-party seller, I know how the process works.

Just as a point of contrast, I ordered multiple similar items from two different vendors on the same day early last week, one in California and one in India. The California company processed my order faster, but the India company had to manufacture part of my order to custom specs. I just got my shipping confirmation codes and checked my shipments: the India order will be here on Monday and the California order will be here Thursday.

If a company in India can take my order, make some of the products to specific custom specs, do top quality work, and get it through customs and into my hands in not much more than a week, the entire American system of production and distribution is going to need to be drastically reworked to stay competitive. I've seen the plant in India, it isn't a sweatshop, but is high tech clean room technology using state of the art equipment. India has been cranking out thousands of engineers who study at some of the best schools in the world for decades, add in a young ambitious population eager to work their way into the professional class and you have an emerging economic powerhouse.
