Thai place in Volcano
#1
Has anybody been to the thai place in Volcano recently? It used to be really good, then it changed hands and was awful, but I haven't heard anything in a while and would like a recent report, we want to take our niece up to see the crater at night and wanted to get dinner too.

I'd recommend the Rim restaurant at Volcano House. Very good and you can't beat the view. THere's also a walk in cafe next to Rim in case you can't get reservations to Rim.

We were there last month & it was OK...not the same as before... & for the money, far better Thai available in East Hawaii...but for the money in Volcano...well, there is a more limited selection

if you're referring to Thai Thai, i don't think it did change hands. I think it's been the same owners for years and years. Their massaman curry is great. I think their quality has been consistent, and i've been going there for 10 years. the prices have risen a little throughout the years, but that's inflation.

there is another thai truck that operates out of the cooper center - Tuk Tuk thai truck. I think their hours are 11am-6pm. Grab something to go before you head into the park.

Ohelo Cafe, next to the general store, where the Kiawe Kitchen used to be, is open, and very good. A bit pricey, but the chef and food are great.

There are a few other restaurants as well. Lava Rock. The Rim. Eagles Lighthouse. Ira Ono cafe.

Volcano is kinda happening with regards to food, actually.

Kilauea Lodge is also an excellent choice, although on the finer side of dining, but still reasonably priced. their lunch menu is good and fairly priced as well.

Reservations highly recommended. Ask for the "Chef's Table".
