Hi Puna people. I'm looking for a gardener who is "in-the-know". I have about 5 or 6 different types of passion fruit growing, each with their own delightful qualities. An eggshell type, a conical shaped type, a giant variety which grows larger than a papaya, a purple type, the common hard-shell yellow type and a soft-shell type that people call the Jamaican lilikoi. The Jamaican is very fragrant, and smells right through its soft fuzzy skin. There is no tartness in this type. Only sweet. Anyway my question is: What is the scientific name of that soft-shell type? I have determined that the most common, hard-shell yellow variety and some of the hard-shell purple are both passiflora edulis. PS I've been researching on the web without luck thus far.

I found this post on Houzz-formerly-known-as-Gardenweb (

Looking for Passiflora laurifolia L/Jamaican Lilikoi seeds
I'm looking around for Passiflora laurifolia L seeds. I've tried to ask around the local farmer's markets here on Oahu, but I heard it's rare. I know they on the other islands. Does anyone know where I can find something? The yellow and purple lilikoi are way easier to find here.
I also found them for sale at

AND there's a facebook passiflora group at

Ahh so they are the passiflora laurifolia aka the water lemon. Interesting. Thanks for the 411. I'll give you some if you like.

Thanks for the offer (they sound delicious), but I'm trying to cut back
on new plants until I get the 100 or so sitting around in pots transferred into the ground.
