Just why this is is something worth finding out. If it is not because it produces massive amounts more slime (don't know if it does but I doubt it), then slime trails are likely not a significant risk factor. I wouldn't be surprised if the semi-slugs just harbor lots more worms in their bodies. Another likely possibility is that they may have smaller and more transparent babies that are easier to consume accidentally.
