Around this time every year the Pahoa-Pohoiki road is littered with fallen mangos, and you see them by the dozens in the trees. It was always fun to pick up a few on the drive to enjoy after swimming. Driving down last week I saw almost none! Did they go off early? Some friends said they were all picked prematurely by profiteers.

I drive through there once a week, and haven't noticed any mangos on the road so far this year.

We live under the same kind of mangos, and they've been falling like crazy for the past 6 weeks or so. It's slippery and smells like a winery gone bad here. They should be Pau in a week or so. I think your friends are right. Somebody made a lot of mango pickle.
