I just bought a beautiful '74 VW bus and am wondering if anyone knows of any good VW mechanics around here. I'm even willing to go to the west side if I must. Nothing major wrong at this point, but I want to be prepared, it's not my first Volkswagen!
VW specifically is what I'm looking for, not just an all around good mechanic. Mahalos, have a great day all!

There was a guy in Kona that only worked on VW's and really knows his stuff. He worked out of a barn next to his house. Call the auto parts store in Kona [Mc'Goo's] or something like that they all know him and may have his number.
You should see the smokers that I built. Stop by sometime when you can.
The Lack
Every kid in Hawaii used to be a VW specialist. ha ha
I envy you. the VW bus is one of my favorite things.
They are so simple to work on. you might learn some stuff yourself.

east side would be either Bear Automotive hilo only does vw or elison behind the 711 in kurtistown. either are experts especially the older ones....
