Internet HPP 14th ave
#1
hi all!

Does anyone have or know if 14th ave between Paradise dr. and Kaloli can receive high speed internet? We are looking at houses and can’t find out from the service companies. Mahalo!

The easiest/most accurate way is to look at what's actually installed on the poles.

I’m not sure what to look for on the poles, do you have any suggestions?

Square gray box with fins: Spectrum mid-span amplifier.

Small square gray box with coax taps: Spectrum distribution splitter. Taps face down, usually have red/blue tags.

Square black box, possibly with orange/black numbers: Telcom copper.

Stainless cylinder, possibly with orange/black numbes: Telcom copper.

White cabinet attached to pole with HELCO power meter: Telcom remote DSLAM.

Green/woodgrain cabinet on ground with HELCO power meter and generator feed connector: Telcom remote DSLAM.

White or stainless "cake dome" attached to pole: Telcom mid-span repeater. Sometimes these are a copper feed to an RDSLAM; sometimes they are HDSL (T1) or SHDSL service to someone's house.

Round black can, ribbed, hanging horizontally, stainless studs/black cables on one end, orange/black numbers beginning with FO: Telcom fiber. There is also a small square version of this splice, which will also have orange/black numbers beginning with FO.

I had a look around 6 months ago and at the time Spectrum was not available between 4th and 17th in HPP.
As kalakoa says, look for the gray rectangular box.
