Ruderman and vaccinations
#1
I don't know about the rest of you but found this article in the Trib a little disturbing. Apparently, Russell Ruderman feels that the alleged complications from vaccinations outweigh the benefits they bring. I understand his view albeit don't agree, after all, his business does tend to sell products that claim health benefits but have no evidence to back up those claims: wild water and homeopathic medicines being among them. And let's not forget the yogic flying "expert" and ballroom dancer he supported when he was opposing GMOs.

"In the post, which has since been deleted, Ruderman, who is a member of the Senate Commerce, Consumer Protection, and Health Committee, said he is not “anti-vax,” but is “pro-science. So I don’t reject inconvenient data. Pharma slogans and fear-mongering not welcome here. The multi-billion dollar PR campaigns already cover that stuff well,” according to screen shots of the post taken by a Tribune-Herald reporter.

In a response to a comment on the post about a measles outbreak in Japan, Ruderman wrote that measles “scares me less than complications from injections,” and that the disease is the “poster child for the current fear campaign.”

I read the article and found it disturbing, too. Ruderman not only deleted the social media post, but refused to answer questions about his opinion on the subject when contacted by the reporter. I have always had a mixed opinion on him, and this is pushing me back into the negative range. Hopefully this will be brought up at reelection time . . . presuming he has some sort of viable opposition.

I hope he makes a definitive statement on this and sticks by it. He seems to be hedging his bets.
I recently spent time with an anti-vaxxer, when I asked her if she thought the recent increase of measles cases was a good thing or not, she claimed that it was the vaccinations causing the outbreaks. The level of contorted reasoning was beyond belief.

He has wasted his time and our time in the legislature with his tilting at windmills. A box of rocks could do a better job. Trying to ban fracking by submitting a bill that refers to gas Wells was a waste of a year .

Ruderman has always been a working for the lunatic fringe - usually he is smart enough not to post things that show his true colors. He's gotten quite wealthy peddling paranoia and selling people the lie that organic crops are "safer" that conventionally raised crops. He plays to the anti-farm, anti-GMO, anti-technology crowd and has for decades. It works for him, he's built a chain of stores here and keeps getting elected with his brand of BS.
