BIVN's interview with Demian Barrios, looking back to the end of Kapoho as we knew it, one year ago. Sincerest gratitude to him and that others that put in the long hours at the front lines to keep everyone informed.

Thanks ironyak,
Remarkable images and interview by Demian.

I remember staying in Kapoho when we came here on vacation. The place we stayed is now under about 30 feet of lava. Kind of surreal that all that’s left are the memories.

I think what he meant to say was; "look at me"...."I'm a brave lava explorer"...........I'm just glad that no first responders had to risk their lives to rescue him...
I liked Bruce, Mick and Paradise Helicopters coverage better.

It's almost like he (and Ikaika, Harry, Andrew, GBL, etc) figured out how to take a few steps back from the lava on a regular basis, or as needed. Perhaps Civil Defense can offer the public some classes on this technique for future needs. It seems far more rational than having to instruct them how to put their hands behind their back during their "rescue" some thousands of feet away from the lava.
I'm not sure where you have your head stuffed that you need a snorkle, but you might want to pull it out and learn a bit about everything that Demian has done for the community (far beyond last year's eruption) before dumping your opinion.
PS How's it been? Hope all is well!
