travel quarantine working/not working
#11
Some states have setup checkpoints on the interstates and are ordering some people coming in to self-quarantine. I'm not aware of any state that is "turning people away". But I imagine that some people would prefer to turn around than face a quarantine.

No, mainland states are not turning away visitors, but they are in some cases tracking them and/or directing them to quarantine.

What's the point of keeping the airport open if visitors aren't allowed? I guess you think it's OK for Hawaiians to be traveling in other states but not vice versa.

I assumed they were simply because "away" is somehwere you can drive to.

Since we're not going to designate a "quarantine hotel" and keep the visitors there under guard ... they would have to stay in the airport until their return flight, which means that airport would have to remain open 24x7.

Egress is allowed by law regardless of quarantine or ethnicity ... no matter what I think.

Rich said visitors to Hawaii, who are flagged for not having lodging, are given a choice to prove that they have found a place to stay or leave. Violations of the quarantine mandate could result in a misdemeanor with fines up to $5,000 and one year in prison.

May actually qualify for the strongest state border restriction if they are able to force those without lodging to return.

All other instances of locking down the borders, like Connecticut's stopping cars with NY plates at the border, were quickly rescinded.
