Near the water spigots. We parked at the area just off the entrance road. I didn’t notice while we were filling our jugs, but a LOT of bees were flying around our car. Somehow we got out of there without getting stung. Definitely the most exciting water acquisition adventure we’ve had there!

Hawaii bees are really laid back. As long as you don't swat at them they won't bother to sting. There is a hive somewhere near my place and there are a lot of bees around all my flowers. They will even land on me. Never been stung.

those are not Hawaiian Bees, they are called Western Honey Bees (native to S.Mediterranean). they are an invasive species in Hawaii/Oceania, as well as being an invasive species in North America, Central America, South America, Australia, most of Africa, most of Europe, and most of Asia...
in Hawaii we have Yellow Face Bees... in the genus Hylaeus
about 8 species of these Yellow Face Bees are on the USA endangered species list now...
the Western Honey Bee is not endangered anywhere... it pushes out the native endemic and indigenous bees all over the World now. a major problem no one seems to know about..
ie. There are over 20,000 known bee species in the world, and 4,000 of them are native to the United States... the honey bees you see daily in HI, CA, TX, WA, OR, etc. are not native!

It's all fun and games until we get one of those Asian Giant Hornets that have been found in Washington State. One wrong box of apples...
