In Memorium - Terri Yamada
#1
My good friend and neighbor Terri Yamada died last night. She suffered a massive stroke the night before. Her departure is a devastating loss for her friends and family. She was 93.

Terri was my welcome wagon when I first came to Pahoa. She became my adopted grandmother. She taught me a lot about life here on this island. Her garden was always meticulous and blooming. She was always ready to laugh. I would be amazed at how this woman, in her nineties and weighing about 85 pounds, could cut down a tree and buck it up for firewood. She did these things she said, "Little by little". A lot by a lot everyone who knew her loved her.

She moved to Pahoa in 1937. She raised her children well and enjoyed their successes. She was widowed over 25 years ago and has lived a long life of ohana and aloha. She savored her independance and life here in Pahoa Village. We all appreciate that she lived life on her own terms fully and completely until the end.

She will be greatly missed.

Assume the best and ask questions.
