#1
The last total lunar eclipse in Hawaii for 3 years

The different stages in Hawaii
  • Nov. 7, 10:02 p.m. — The moon will begin to dim as it moves into earth’s shadow.

  • Nov. 8, 12:16 a.m. — The moon will begin to turn red as it enters the center of earth’s shadow.

  • 1:41 a.m. — The red color will fade as the moon begins to move out from earth’s shadow.

  • 3:56 a.m. — The eclipse ends.

You can already see a shadow crossing the moon. It takes a bit of neck stretching as the moon is pretty much overhead.

I almost went back to bed when the alarm woke me up at around 11 and I saw the heavy overcast sky. But it cleared off a little later, just in time to see the last half of the moon covered and turn red. Watched for another hour or so. Saw some nice shooting stars. Got to see the peak of red before the clouds came back in, so I didn't get to see the moon come back out.

Awesome night!
