Restaurants that cater to allergies?

Hi all. I’ll be visiting Puna and Hilo area in a week or so. I've visited often, but recently I found out I can’t eat wheat, rye, oats, or barley or anything derived from them or contaminated by them.

Any suggestions for restaurants in the area with chefs that might be understanding enough to prepare a meal that meets my allergy restrictions? My husband and I will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary.

I know and love Island Naturals for all their gluten-free products (including yummy desserts!), but restaurants are a problem for me here on the mainland, much less in HI.
