What's Happening on the 4th of July?
#11

Alas our favorite 4th, take vacation to Hilo, rent house in HPP on beach, spend some $ at local grocery on fireworks, go out on lava and set them off with our kids now 24 and 25 years old, sit on lanai have BBQ (usually Kahlua porker) with mai tai in hand, take a swim in pool. Oh sooo sad for us this year we will not be on BI, our loss, and oh BTW we did invest in our kids also, both college grads with good jobs, hoipefully with support their parents in our old age [Big Grin] Should be able to invest in kids and have a little fun along the way.[:p]

I have reservation at Cafe Pesto 7/4. Please tell me what's the best way for us to get there and where to park. Where are the blocked streets? Or should I cancel my rez? Thanks.

Hanalei -

The parking is terrible in that area on regular days. It will be a nightmare from about 3:00 on.

If you have a friend in Hilo that you could park your car at and then have them drop you off and pick you up... that may be your best option.

Best way to find it is to print out a Google Map of the location and use the driving directions feature on that site.

Good luck

Heading over to Kona this morning for the baby green turtle release to the sea starting at 8:30am and actual release at 10:30am at the Mauna Lani Resort shoreline. Big international event!
