Did anyone else get hammered by that lightning storm last night? Down here in HPP we got hit hard. Lightning struck our property twice! Once knocking out the power(HELCO's response was great, only out for about 2 hours), and the second one hit one of our gate pillars and blew the top apart! It sounded like we were in a war zone. Needless to say everyone was a bit shaken, especially our little dog who was trembling for hours afterwards. But as quickly as it came, it blew out to sea and the stars came out. Gotta love Hawaii weather!

We got hammered here, too, Mark. Sorry you had damage. The thing came up so fast, that we got caught in it while taking our daily 30 minute walkabout in HPP. When we left the house, there was no sign of a T-storm,and then BANG! We had to go running home. Our BIG dogs (Rottweilers) were so terrified they hid in the bathtub til it was over. I hope burglars don't hit us during a lightning storm, because our Rotties turn into wussies when that happens. LOL

It wasn't too bad in Nanawale. We mostly just heard it in the distance. Just enough to make the doggies freak out (my Golden Retriever HATES thunder like no dog I've ever seen).

Wow what a storm! Do you all have lightening rods on your homes? I was wondering with metal roofing if this would be a necessity? Aloha, Mella L

I found the transformer that was struck last night(about 40 yards from our house), and it has a hole and burns on the side of it. I'm amazed that the power was restored so fast, I was expecting to be out of power for a while. I hear some rumbling off in the distance...hope we're not in for another one today!
