I know that Trex (the only established/reputable company) had at one point sold a structural lumber. It was ungodly thick and only came in white and a chocolate-like color. It was about 50% more expensive. I looked into it for redoing a deck in Leilani. As buzz mentioned, what't the point if the sub-structure is wood!?! I looked at it thinking that the retrofit of the deck (doubling exsisting joists!) was impractical, and that perhaps the heavier guage stuff could be used instead. This particular owner had a real bad mildew problem and I could understand wanting a synthetic surface decking.
I too have been frustrated by the lack of lumber here, both in selection and quality. I am looking into metal studs, and Castleblock.
