Final inspection completed!!!

This week I will finally get to move into my new 3rd Ave. House! One of the very first task is to change the water filter system at my new place. Right now it has that Basic General Electric "white" filter installed. It's all connected together with 3/4 inch CPVC to pump etc, etc. I'm going to purchase the $1100.00 UV Light/filter system from Hawaii Catchment Co. tomorrow. My question to everybody here is. Do I just leave the 3/4 inch CPVC, or should I replace that with one inch CPVC? I need to know the advantage of using 3/4 inch over one inch, or vice versa. Which one of these will offer the best water pressure to the house?

Ask Hawaii Catchment Co. They will know where to put it. I'm sure they will have the fittings for the one inch supply. I'm pretty sure you got a high flow rate GPM for that kind of cash, so you should be pretty safe. A UV filter won't effect your pressure. If you let in 15GPM and you bought a 10GPM UV system then the water will not be properly filtered. Normally you buy a UV system, to match the output of the your pump.

Like ericlp said, Hawaii Catchment should be able to tell you what will work best for the system you are getting from them.

We put in the Sterilite S8QPA UV with 5 micron and 30 micron sediment filters before it. We have a 1/2 hp pump. We used 3/4" cpvc which was what was recommended by the WaterWorks guy.

The only change in pressure that we've noticed is when the 5 micron filter gets full, which is about every week and a half! The 30 micron filter we replace about once a month.

Ah, water filtration systems and water pressure. I would be of no help to you there, although I could tell you some stories. I would be interested in hearing about your experience with Hawaii Catchment Company. Hope it's a good one.

I DO want to congratulate you on moving into your place on Third. Very nice area of Puna and I am sure you are going to be very happy.

so far my experience with Hawaii Catchment Co. has been pleasant. Lenna & Lisa have been more than wonderful and patient with all my stupid questions.

Moving from only 9th Ave to 3rd Ave alone is a change in some ways. I'll miss my few neighbors on 9th Ave that we had around our house there, but look forward to having an enjoyable time with new neighbors on 3rd Ave.
