I am a little confused about all the current news about recent state employee pay raises vs. the governors call for salary freezes. An article in the Honolulu Advertiser stated that the state legislature just got a 35.7% pay increase, while judges have requested a 10% increase. There was also an article on americancityandcountry.com
which stated that the state was considering making police salaries tax exempt. Am I missing something here or are our "public servants" still just serving themselves even in light of our present economic crisis? Does anyone have any further info on any of this by which they could shed some more light? Have these proposals already gone through?
