#1
Michael Reynolds, the Earthship guy, is in Pahoa somewhere. Anyone know where? Jared knows him and wants to be in touch.

Are you talking Earth "SHIP" or Earth "DOME"?

An Earthship is a type of passive solar home made of natural and recycled materials. Designed and marketed by Earthship Biotecture of Taos, NM, the homes are primarily constructed to work autonomously and are generally made of earth-filled tires, utilising thermal mass construction to naturally regulate indoor temperature. They also usually have their own special natural ventilation system. Earthships are generally Off-the-grid homes, minimizing their reliance on public utilities and fossil fuels.

The Earthship being built in Nanawale lists a different name. Might be someone else.

Still not sure how you would build an earthship out of lava rock. Cinders maybe but they won't pack worth a darn. As far as I could tell the earthship design didn't make much of an effort to address siesmic loads. No need to in New Mexico I suppose, but it is not something that can be glossed over here on a live volcano.

I agree.

Appropriate technology. . .right? They work great in the desert. Here, they look like a centipede breeder.
