No Worries!!
I understand that posting a question and asking for any comments (on behalf of my friends) is opening the door for *all* comments...
That's why I enjoy this forum. I didn't think anyone was being mean. I'm glad that people feel free to stand up and be counted -- stand up for the aina and the ocean. Again, no worries!!

Manatee are not harmed on purpose off the Florida keys either, but they sure are in decline there. No one does this on purpose it is one of the unintended consequences, and just needs to be kept in mind and in check for the sea creatures to endure.

i see guys launching wave runners out of pohohiki going fishing, i'd buy one except even the used ones are so expensive(for a toy), but if someone was there renting them, i'd bite

My understanding is that in Hilo Bay they are regulated and limited (except for going in and out) to an area out by the breakwater. On weekends there are usually a handful of people out on them.

In my previous life as a windsurfer we called them thumb jocks. It looks fun but boringly easy.
