Satellite is available for almost anyone on the island unless you have really large trees around you. It needs to point to the East. hughesnet is presently offering free installs. Might be worth it to check them out.

Thanks for the Hughesnet suggestion. Guess they're the only game in town? I've heard a lot of horror stories about them so I've been a little hesitant.

chrism, when I lived on the mainland, I had lots of friends and business customers that used satellite broadband. It works just fine provided that you have a clear view of the sky (in the direction of the satellite) and don't try to do gaming, VOIP (phone) or use VPN for a connection to a corporate network. Normal stuff that requires broadband is just fine. Only the harshest storms with really thick clouds knock it out and then generally only for a few minutes.
