Obie, I live right around the corner from your old house on Evergreen Ave. Small planet eh? Would you mind contacting me so I can get some details on your move?
PS: Don't whine too loud about the vog. We have had the dubious distinction of the worst air in the nation lately. Yuck!

StreetView is incredibly useful and has come in handy for me many times in the past. It's adding a lot of information to the internet. Imagine being able to see not just a building (house/hotel/vacation rental/restaurant) but the whole street and neighborhood before deciding to buy/visit/stay/book. I've even used it to zoom in and see the opening hours of a shop.
As for crooks using it to case your house, they could do that anyway by taking pictures as they drive past, if they really wanted to. The data already available in Google Earth and all other map software already gives far more useful information to theoretical would-be burglars.
The real benefits outweigh the imagined downsides.

The google earth car was in Seaview a couple of weeks ago.
I like the tool, as said above, I can use it to see what the neighborhood looks like of potential homes or land when considering purchasing.
But, then when I did my own address, at first didn't even register, but now does, it all started to feel a little instrusive.
Enjoy the day! Ann

Stillhope, Google hasn't done streetview of Hawaii County yet, so all we have is roof views. Obviously that is about to change. I haven't seen any where you can look into windows, but my cousin and I were able to visit a site in Houston, Texas where we lived next door to each other, and both view the houses together. Simple use, but very satisfying.
