movie; "To Save A Life"
#1
just finished watchin to save a life. if it comes to hawaii i would encourage people to watch especially if u have children or work with kids.

when i first heard of it i thought it might be a cheesy Christian movie. but follow up research on the film quickly changed my mind.

i dont know the reality of teen suicide in hawaii or puna for that matter but in alaska its a big problem.
the sub title "some people are dying to be heard" struck an emotional chord as i have lost a friend and family member as a young teen to suicide.

this is not a movie trying to convert people. this is not a movie an entertaining movie. this is a call to not ignore teens. the film centers around a popular high school teen who is deeply affected when a childhood friend commits suicide and he begins reaching out to classmates at the risk of losing his in-crowd friends.

rated PG-13 the film has drinking and sucide and cutting and teen pregnancy and mild swearing words as well as sexuality.

in spite of the serious subject matter, there is a message of hope. one teens response to the film was "they didnt have to make a movie they could have filmed that on site at a public high school. that is real life"

im sure most all of us have had or know someone who is struggling with life issues. knowin about it and doing something is the key.

im courious, is sucide a problem in paradise?
peace
