Regarding: "Improving the water temperature at the pool" isn't her idea. Pahoa Cash & Carry deserves he credit for not only offering to provide the heat source, but the idea to begin with."

I actually have some knowledge about this. I was involved in some of those meetings. Pahoa Cash & Carry is the means by which the 'generator' that will allegedly provide the heated water, even exists. The technology, should it come to pass, will have been a collaborative effort between the owner of the generator, Green Partners out of California, whose local representative was quoted in the newspaper article, and the County's Parks & Rec. The idea for providing this is currently under question. The one who is taking the credit is different from the one who claims to have spawned the idea. [Melodrama really]

To clarify: The Councilwoman was told repeatedly, and as recently as the 3rd week in December [when I was present] the heated water would be provided freely by the owner of the generator to the pool at no charge. Apparently, the owner can no longer promise 'free' heated water, according to the Newspaper article, because the Parks and Recs folks were quoted as saying it will be around 60 to 100K. [at some point, if this actually happens, the cost to provide free heat may actually happen. First you have to cost out the 60-100k against the cost of electricity to do the same currently.] I was also in attendance [as one of two representing the vendor] at the initial meeting between the councilwoman, the vendor and the parks n rec people, where the pool and pool lighting was discussed. The lighting proposed was supposed to be LED lighting and at the time the county folks advised us the Building Codes do not allow for LED lighting. Ms. Emily has facilitated the meetings between the individuals necessary to make the 'ideas' come to life. That is all she can really do. She has been diligent at follow up to remain current with the status. We live in a great place where someone can present a brainstorm and the brainstorm is pursued. Sadly, the original concept has been altered for a number of reasons, all of which are out of the councilwoman's hands. At least she tried. And for those who use the Pahoa Pool they can take solace that she has championed their needs as best she can. Is it an accomplishment? Have you tried to deal with government? I have. To move an 'idea' from 'talk' through the various processes is quite an accomplishment. Is it a completed accomplishment? No. But it no longer just an 'idea' either.

Just hope the folks who use the pool for exercise do not feel the sudden urge to run for french fries because of the looming fragrance of the recycled veggie oil expected to run the generator. <-- that is a humor...just so no one misunderstands.

"FYI - Emily’s Accomplishments – by Emma Geist-Scribben" in kjlpahoa's original post in this thread just caught my eye. "Geist-Scribben" means ghost-written in Low German and some dialects of Dutch. This is either a rather sweet irony or very clever on the OP's part. In any case, it seems to be appropriate for writing about Emily's accomplishments. Ghosts indeed!

Interesting, Jerry. I see also that the list of "accomplishments" is exactly the same as was posted on the web site write-matters.com nearly three weeks ago. You know, the anonymous blog that is "in no way affiliated with Councilwoman Emily Naeole-Beason," except it reads like a campaign brochure complete with fancy Auntie Em graphics.

I'm beginning to think some close scrutiny of Auntie Em's campaign spending reports will be in order, as in in-kind donations. We should see the blogger "Ann Onimus," Emma or kjlpahoa there at some point.

Assuming he/she/they aren't already on the county payroll.
