While a number of people participated and gave personal time and effort I want to thank Tiffany, who led the effort, for a good forum and debate today at the Akebono Theater. She put in a lot of work and was able to be flexible and find solutions. When the schedule piled up a bit with delays she wisely combined the state house and senate debate which worked well.
Through all this she was posting blow by blows on the Big Island Chronicle.
It is too bad that some candidates did not show up or had other things to do than meet the public. One had a medical emergency in his Ohana.
Assume the best and ask questions.

I wish I could have been there today, but I had other obligations. Did Fred Blas give an excuse as to why he wasn't there? I was surprised and disappointed to see him missing on Tiffany's blog coverage.

I heard he had a family emergency.

I saw Fred at the Akebono and spoke to him briefly. He was upset and had a member of his ohana in the hospital in serious condition. I understand he returned to the hospital.

Then I'd say he has his priorities right. It's completely understandable that he couldn't stay at Akebono, and I hope his family member recovers soon.

Indeed, big, big thanks to Tiffany for making this happen. All the wonderful help from volunteers was also indispensable, but the leadership and central force was Tiffany.
As a candidate, I very much appreciate the opportunity to be heard by voters/constituents.
I hope the voters/constituents also found it useful.
