Greg - I seriously doubt she would be able to get insurance on the house. It was, after all, built on the 1990 lava flow. Frankly, building on a flow before the eruption has even stopped is beyond ridiculous unless you owned it before the first time and have nowhere else to go.

I know a guy building in my neighborhood who just sold his house there to someone who got insurance and is actually betting on collecting.

I agree on the futility of building there, but would personally avoid the area because of the air quality more than the lava.
