Excellent film now at Hilo's Palace: Inside Job
#1
I saw this surprisingly interesting documentary film last night at the Palace and was very impressed. It clarifies how the current situation on the Big Island and elsewhere came to be with regard to housing market and debt, wealth, & control of the economy. Even I can understand what happened the way it is laid out, step by step, -and they are naming names and showing the faces of the guilty parties. Inside Job also presents a balanced summary of the potential for "change we can believe in" with regard to significant improvement happening under the current administration.

Sunday at 2:30pm

Monday at 7:00pm

Tuesday at 7:00pm

Here is the preview trailer:

Puna's real estate market is tied directly into all this even if we are far away from NYC and DC. Moreover, Hawaii's economy being so dependent upon the tourism industry and imported energy/food/materials the effects felt elsewhere in areas with diversified industry are amplified here.

If other folks on Punaweb see Inside Job at any of the three remaining showings at the Palace then I would be interested to hear what you think of the evidence presented and points being made. I have my own opinions, but do not want to blurt any spoilers here so will wait until Wednesday to share my two cents worth on this film.

thanks for this, Steven!
I'm totally interested.

I would also recommend the Wall Street sequel, Money Never Sleeps, for Oliver Stone's fictionalized version on some of what happened. Not as a replacement, and naturally it won't show you the real faces, but it uses the real names of companies and real tactics.

Mahalo for the heads up. We'll see it for sure. I've read excellent reviews on it.

Great film, glad it made it to the B.I. Everyone affected by the current economic downturn needs to see this.
