Keaau Transfer Green/Metal Waste renovation closin

The Keaau Transfer Station will not be accepting Green or Metal waste from Monday May 9 until late Oct (Oct 28 is the scheduled date) as they make improvements to the collection area.
Residents with green & metal waste are asked to use Pahoa or Hilo in the interim.

The improvements are much needed and will be worth the interruption in metal and green waste collection. I don't know if it's part of the same project, but they are also creating a 500% better distribution point for potable water just outside the gate of the Transfer Station. Nice all the way around! Now if the County would just come up with a reasonable plan for the not too so very distant closure of the present Hilo landfill.
