Kava cuttings or plants
#1
We are very interested in trying our hand at growing Kava. I heard it would be good for my anxiety. Since it takes 7 years to reach maturity, we'd like to get them planted sooner rather than later.

So does anyone know a good source for Kava Kava plants? And does anyone know if they'd grow at 2800 feet?

`Awa (Kava, Piper methysticum) grows best under 1500' on windward sides, but you can always try it...
Pacific ago-forestry link on kava to get you started:

We donated our `Awa to a cultural garden, to join other lowland cultivar varieties. That is something else to consider, as there are so many different varieties...possibly there are some that are better for your elevation...

Hello Dayna, I see no reason why kava wouldn't grow at you location. How cold does it get? I would recommend "Isa" it 's strong growing and puts up with all kinds of conditions. Actually, you can start harvesting after 3 1/2 years. Best, John [url]F [url]kava@tribalsite.com
