The current situation
#31
There are both bad owners & feral dogs...and some owners that are not bad, but for them, the dog is more of hunting tool and/or food item, rather than a pet...

There are also feral cats, goats, sheep, cattle, mongoose, rats, mice... & some neighbors.... - so farming is not without predators & competition (esp. if you want to raise 'pure' strains...) Without a VERY adequate fence - un-breached, solid, strong & protected, either good barb or electric - you will always be dealing with these intruders.

ETA: Motorcycles: Hubby has been lifelong rider, did not have one for a few years here (he doesn't really enjoy rain riding & the east side there is always that potential most days & other vehicles can be way over on the crazy side of driving). Got a small bike - 250- a couple of years ago for west side riding & just dropped the bike on his knee on an intersection in Kona that had a wee bit of rain....& oil....so he is currently waiting to ride again...

Carey, bummer. I hope he recovers quickly. Knee injuries can be rough. Around here fencing is critical too. We've all manner of predator, and wandering dog. But raccoon, skunk, and opossum are the worst.

I'm honestly afraid to hope to find a couple of acres.
