As I noted before, the Puna judge will generally give each side one continuance before dismissing the case. One would need to show up to request the continuance.

Haven't seen my fiend since he started the appeal.
Guess what? He was denied the continuance. He showed up,had to wait a long time while someone needed to talk to the supervisor,judge.etc.
They even suggested that he should come in person to the hearing and THEN request the continuance! Finally the supervisors nicely let my friend to file the paperwork and after quite a bit of filing he was requested to make 2 copies for some authorities (to go to the paid copy machine in the building).
Yes,it was his fault that he forgot the wallet and was late for an appointment. He returned the paperwork to the window explaining that.
The denial came in mail with no particular explanation.
He paid on time.Sadly it was not the end of the story.By some clerical
mistake which was corrected almost a month later they sent paperwork to the collection agency.
I told him that it was stupid to even try.I am not going to say why not to stir the pot here.
Posted this for someone else not to make the same mistake.
My friend is not into posting on the forums but let me do it for him.
