I think actually it is the lime in the concrete that kills them. The concrete guys find the same thing in the days following a new pour. (and no sawdust...)

didn't even think of LIME! Make sense though. I couldn't think of anything in the wood that would cause it. It isn't treated in any way. The dying has slowed down lately as I haven't seen any croaked croakers in the morning. They seem to learn quickly to stay way from the things that get'em.
