ISS, Tiangong, Satellites Over Puna
elepaio pid=' dateline= Wrote:whooo hoo . anything that gets PUNAweb to upload faster is great..right ?

Tom, how do you guys deal with these things photo bombing you so to speak ?

I'd recommend reading the following literature and finding out for yourself. That way, as you implied in another thread, you don't need to base your views on biased news media sites or your own uninformed opinions. And no, none of this will make "PUNAweb" faster to upload.

This is just a small subset of papers on the subject.

Questions? (Forgive me, HOTPE, but it's so appropriate):

Great. More man made stuff affecting our view of the beautiful night sky.

The skies have been incredibly clear for January in Puna, so it’s a good time for stargazing and satellite watching.

Tonight, Wed January 24 the Chinese space station Tiangong will pass overhead from 7:01 PM - 7:06 PM.  Rising in the WNW, setting SSE. It’s relatively bright, but the moon is bright too, so we’ll see how visible it might be.

Thanks for posting. I set my phone to ping me a reminder to go outside and look up.

Ditto the thanks. Iʻd all but given uplooking, given the preponderance of cloudy skies but skies are clear now.

We just watched it. It was the brightest thing in the sky (other than the moon). Sort of a reddish hue. The moon was behind us as we watched it so didn't obscure it at all.
