Catchment cleaning and maintenance?
#11
You might consider hooking up a pool sand/Diatomaceous earth filter to your catchment and put it on a timer to run say for 2 hours daily. It will keep the water in your catchment take crystal clear.

Are there many/any real health issues with the twigs and leaves? Aside from clogging up pipes and filters I'm not really sure. Animals carry things that are harmful to humans so we use bleach, carbon filters, and UV treatment to remove their waste or remains. I remember drinking from mountain streams fifty years ago before they leased the meadows for cattle grazing. I think that we keep out the debris to keep the system full-flowing rather than for health concerns.
