Civil Unions Bill
#21
Well, chalk up another one to the narrow minded bigots in the state. It becomes obvious that one must become a single issue voter in order to redress this abuse. So for any potential candidates for office on this forum, I will only ask one question when deciding whom to vote for. Any answer that is not a firm yes, will result in the loss of at least one vote.

A twice divorced Jewish closeted lesbian saying the state must actively discriminate against gay and lesbian couples is beyond absurd. It's Lingle, so I guess it would have been unreasonable to expect anything else. She believes so strongly in marriage that she had two of them, then got divorced just in case she ever wants to have another I guess, LOL! She bring hypocrisy to new levels. She'll be out of power in 6 months an irrelevant. Good riddance!

I can only say I was crushed to see Lingle veto this worthy bill. We'll get it done next year with Abercrombie Wink

I didn't attack Joey's beliefs. I simply pointed out that he needs to be consistent in them. Why do you get a free pass just because you say something is based on the Bible? Ridiculous. He chose to comment here. If he isn't man enough to deal with rational and evidenced based counter points then isn't that his problem? I didn't say anything that was not true and well documented about the Bible. Honestly I would respect him much more if indeed he said, yes I believe every word of it, including that eating lobster is an abomination and that he would like to see Opihi pickers executed. I guess then that it would be ok for him to come on here and say that he thinks all blacks should be slaves, since slavery is justified in the Bible. Just asking for some consistency here. And I agree that Joey is entitled to his beliefs. Don't see where in my post I said otherwise.

I certainly hope so, It sickens me to see those bigoted bastards pull this off. I have always been respectful to the missionaries that come around, from now on I guess I just open the door and let the dog express my opinion of organized religion and its narrow minded bigots.[Sad!]

robguz, I said to keep it Hawaii oriented. All you did was slam someone else's point of view. If you are unhappy with getting called on it that is simply too bad. I, for one, am getting weary of people attacking people for differing points of view.
Assume the best and ask questions.

I'm not unhappy with being called on anything. I beg to differ that I attacked anyone for differing points of view. He's been on this forum for a long time and had nothing to say until when he makes some Adam and Steve comment. Here is how it is related to Puna. I am a gay man. i live in Puna. My neighborhood and the general area around it is probably the most gay and lesbian densely populated place in the state. And most of those gays and lesbians I know are in couples and this law affects them. I've lived for years in San Francisco a couple blocks from the Castro and my neighborhood was not anywhere near as gay as where I live in Puna. This is the political forum and he chose to express his political views.

I have not told Joey that my religious views mean that the equal protection clause of the constitution does not apply to him and his rights and life should be irrelevant in the eyes of Hawaii law. My point is that if you are going to use a well studied and documented book as the basis for your arguments, you better be well prepared to defend everything in it or why you have decided to simply pick and choose what suits your preconceived biases. I don't care what Joey believes or not or what his religious views are. He's entitled to them and should feel free to defend them if he's able to. If he can indeed say yes, he advocates all those other things in this book he says he basis his life and decisions on, then I will have a lot more respect for him. He hasn't said anything else. Go figure. It's your site. Do what you want and good for you for doing so. But I would like to think that if I start a new thread saying I think Native Hawaiians should be enslaved and then executed if they eat shellfish because it's in the Bible, I trust that you will not delete that thread?

Robguz, you are comparing Old Testament Jewish beliefs with New Testament Christian beliefs.
It would be like saying that since the ancient Hawaiians sacrificed thousands of their own people, we can do the same thing now. It must be OK?
