New restaurant (thai-American)
#1
Tomorrow,7-21,there will be a new Thai-American restaurant opening in Hilo. The Full Moon Cafe is located at 51 Kalakaua St. next to the theater.Brooks and Phen Maloof,Puna residents, have been remodeling the old dry cleaners building and will offer authentic Thai food and also some American foods.Hours of operation aren't finalized yet. They may offer breakfast, but are definitely going to have lunch and dinner.American menu will include steaks, sea food.burgers,etc.Thai food can be seasoned to your liking...spicy or mild.Sea food will be local caught and vegetables local grown.

Wishing them good luck. I wouldn't say that Hilo is short on Thai restaurants (four or five?), but they do tend to be busy. Interesting idea of Thai American. I've never gone to a Thai restaurant for American food. Sounds great about the local caught fish and local vegetables. Again, wishing them success!

If the food is as nicely done as the renovation, It's going to be worth checking out.

That's great, but I wish someone would open a Greek restaurant instead of another Thai.

I wish them the best, we'll definitely check it out.

Greek food would be wonderful too, but authentic Indian food would almost guarantee a once-a-week visit from us.

Are you kidding?! I would drive there every week! I used to go to Cassandra's here in Kona even though it wasn't a good Greek restaurant, just to eat Greek food! I have not had decent Indian food here since the Indian take-out place closed down in Honokaa. I'm making my own Indian food ever since!

There is a sign up in front of a place on Kilauea between Ponahawai and Mamo street that says we will soon have either: Mediterranean, Middle Eastern or Greek food, I just can't remember which one they were advertising, probably because they are all so related. Their storefront is a few storefronts down from the new Puff City location.
