I liked the part where they find the abandoned broken spear that still has the factory finish with no rust on the blade edge. Must have been lost or abandoned just an hour earlier.

It's filmed in the future, that's actually O'ahu in the year 2386 after the Big Slide.

I thought I saw on there where they found a car body which makes me wonder just how "un"inhabited the place really was.

How seriously am I supposed to take this? The wilderness survival instructor is correct of course. People succumb to exposure more than any other cause of death when they get lost and dehydration is a major part of that. Actual starvation is way down on the list, rare in fact in that your water and shelter needs are oddly met while your food needs are not. As for pigs attacking all the time, well, I'd be dead by now if that were true.

It's obviously for a mainland audience, so - not very. Besides pigs not attacking much, nobody hunts with a spear either. The reason for which should be obvious as they walk around...

I'm curious where they were though. The opening was a montage of shots from all the islands. They claimed to be at 1000 feet but there was a lot of hau all over and it didn't seem that steep.

You've got to wonder about a wilderness survival instructor who refuses to wear shoes. They got one thing right though, there's a thousand ways to die in Hawaii. I always thought it would be a good idea to hand out a booklet as tourists step off the plane called "How not to die in Hawaii." Probably wouldn't be too popular in the tourist industry.

I watched this and regretted the huge amount if time spent doing so, but at the same time was interested in the "reality" they presented us with - it seems that you can make reality whatever you want it to be!
