Grim Reaper to Welcome the "Doomsday Plane" to Hilo airport on Christmas eve 4PM

The Grim Reaper will "Welcome the Doomsday Plane" to Hilo airport at 4PM Christmas eve. The "Doomsday Plane" is a 747 aircraft that is on 24hour standby at Hilo airport anytime President Obama is vacationing in Hawaii. It serves as an operations and command center in the event of a nuclear war. The Grim Reaper, a man of few words, said, "it is a special honor for Hilo to host 'The Doomsday Plane' on Christmas instead of celebrating the birth of Jesus --the Prince of Peace." As the Grim Reaper, I say instead of peace on earth, good will to all, lets make war and celebrate killing and violence. The Doomsday Plane is a big step up from semi-automatic assault weapons. Nice airplane - also acts as a decoy I believe. I do know we are under a bit tighter of a safety net - rather than more endangered by its presence - Washington needs that airplane as first line of com ability -

..... Me thinks they (DOD) will not allow it or us to be a target this Holiday Season - not to worry - Happy Holidays

I for one thank the "father" of the myth's birth you desire to celebrate that that plane is parked here in Hilo.

With the recent passing of a certain senator, some here may get to celebrate a reduced presence and associated $$$ loss, hopefully only they will be the ones to bear the brunt of the loss.

With the recent passing of a certain senator.... he will be missed by the state of Hawaii and many veterans nationwide - he never turned down a visit to his office if one wanted to talk veterans affairs - down to earth as well....

With his passing - I dont think we will be getting that bridge to the mainland anytime soon - It will be interesting how indigenous peoples issues gets handled from here as well - his concern as well.

Huge loss to the state and the nation.....

Ken, the airplane is one of 2 Air Force Ones, that have been visiting our island (well.... Hilo Airport) every time our president is in the state.... The HI Trib Herald referred to it as the 'Doomsday Plane' on this visit...but usually it is not titled so drastic on the pretty picture press coverage it gets every time it visits Hilo (in all of years I lived near Chi-town, do not remember ever hearing about the plane(s)...much less the front page coverage it gets here... but think it must have visited OHare, &/or one of the other nearby airports....)

The plane in Hilo is actually one of 4 Airborne Command centers.One is always near the president.They are older than the Airforce One twin airplanes and are all white, while Airforce One has a blue nose.

Technically - AF1 being the aircraft the president is reported to be on - radio call sign "Air Force One" usually clears the pattern - grin

Could be a piper cub if the prez is out doing touch and go's.... "air force one" a much more impressive "handle" than "bullwinkle" November 44075 or "Bullwinke075" for short" - grin

Call signs kind of old school and nostalgic... one more we wont hear on air any more: from one of the blogs:
