Wet, wild and windy --- a wind so strong it blew down a curtain rod (I had all the doors and windows wide open, because I just gotta get the full effect). The winds are blowing through me, the illuminated buddha in the front yard has gone dark and the air is charged.

The ocean is roiling and boiling, but the sound is almost lost in the wind, which comes from all directions.

A great night for a bell, book and candles ---the battery operated candles that are remote controlled. They smell like vanilla! And something or somebody smells like plumeria, and it isn't the plumeria.

I don't know why, but I keep thinking earthquake!

Pretty much! SO glad we got the gutters up last week! Even still... I'm thinking we'll need a drawbridge by morning.

Flew in from Honolulu on Hawaiian yesterday to Hilo at about 17:00 hours. We got an announcement over the P.A. from the pilot that things didn’t look good for landing. He also said that their competitor Go could not make a landing but he was going to give it a try. If he could not we would be headed for Kona where the weather was clear, well we made it and everybody cheered and the pilot patted himself on the back. His next statement was if we flew on his competitors flight we would all be headed back to Honolulu.

That's quite a story about your flight!Hope the landing wasn't too scary.
My wife was trying to fly out of Anchorage years ago during a big storm. The plane she was on had been sitting for like six hours waiting for a chance to take if if the strom would ease up a bit.the passengers were getting grumpy. Then they all saw another airplane try to take off. That plane got just off the ground when a big downdraft slammed it back to the ground. That plane aborted and came rolled back to the terminal after that attempt. The passengers on my wife's flight changed their tune after seeing that, and decided the captain should take all the time he needed.

Anyway, I'm glad I cleaned out our gutters a few days ago here in HPP.

Yey, after such a drought where the vegetation was screaming, feels good and normal again. 3/4 of this year we were down to 30 percent of normal rainfall on Hilo side.

Anyone who has moved over in the last 18-24 months might be in for a shock if and when the weather returns to "normal"
