First we get Mick Fleetwood, then Taj Mahal. Now John Mayall is coming to Big Island. I best bust out a pair of old Bell Bottoms, a Paisley Shirt ,and a floppy hat for that event, and of course my handy old Marine Band HaRP! An to think I was bummed because Prop 19 failed in Cali on election night. Now I don't feel so bad. How caqn anyone feel bad with John Mayall coming?

Saw John Mayall here in 2002, at what is now the Outrigger Keauhou, in the garden area. Very cool show. Had seen him at the Whiskey on Sunset Strip back in '69, but not in-between.

I saw Mayall back then at the Whiskey too. At least I think it was 69? Saw several shows that week and what stood out was every night my friends and I went and saw his shows. He'd be playing a different instrument! How awesome is that?

Maybe we were there at the same time!
Thinking back and remembering that we went with this other couple, it may have been 1970. We were big Mayall fans. On our wedding night, I remember the record we played was "Blues From Laurel Canyon" -- out of all the great albums we had to choose from.

I saw the show at the Whiskey as well. My friend did the lights for the club, so I used to hang out in the light room from time to time and saw some great acts, Kinks, Blue Cheer, Barry McGwyer, ect.

Did you guys see John Mayall sit in with Maggie Mayall and the Cadillacs at the Palomino in the Valley? Awesome show in about 1980?

@ Kapohocat - The Palomino??? WOW never thought I would see that mentioned anywhere again. Best place ever and I saw everyone from Curtis Mayfield to Dwight Yoakum there. When that place closed, I stepped up my exit plan from LA!

For those of living in Northern California, I caught a show at the Filmore in 1968, or was it 1970, not sure because for a few years there it all kind of merges together. I do remember that the power went out during the set and we all had to stay really quiet to hear the rest of the show. Everyone sitting on the floor, so much smoke in the air people were stoned whether they smoked or not. I don't think that I paid the $46.00 they wanted at CD Wizard today for the show back then.
