I'd like to hear more about the failed world record attempt in San Francisco. Anybody know what went wrong?

Thanks Susan, but I will handle being the contact person with Guinness. I don't want a whole bunch of different people trying to register our event with them. People's record requests sometimes get fouled up because of inaccurate information submitted, so it is better if that is handled by one person from day 1.

My understanding is that the SF attempt relied on individual uke players and I want to start by recruiting groups of players through schools and music teachers, then fill in with individuals. I think we have the advantage of 3 things: more uke players per capita than SF, not as much competition for people's time and attention as a big city, and 3rd, that the people of the Big Island will make it a point of pride to bring this record home. There is a strong competitive spirit here and enormous pride in the things that make the Big Island unique. Ukulele playing is one of those things.
