We were heading into Pahoa from Leilani Sat. afternoon and a caravan passed us headed towards Kalapana- a cop car, a stretch limo. followed by another cop, followed by another stretch limo. followed by two more police cars. Hmm.

Anyone who was alive when Kennedy was assassinated will understand expenses spent to protect the first family, whether that is the family of Reagan, Bush, Clinton, or Obama. Local police, such as HPD, are often involved in creating that zone of protection.

School was dimissed on that dark day in November. I broke the news to my mother. She turned on the television, and the nation waa not the same again.

Thank you, HPD and thank you,nation, for having the values to believe that protecting our leaders is a worthwhile endeavor.

When Bush #1 was in office he used to come to my area fairly often. If the County and Cities had had to foot the bill it would have ruined their budgets. If the pres likes to frequent an area the Feds should certainly foot the whole bill. The pres should also take into consideration the tremendous inconvenience his presence causes to an area (been there several times). I'm not saying the pres and family should never venture from DC but they should consider the cost and inconvenience their travels cause.
