VICTORY in sight for Gay Civil Unions
#41
But it IS nature. Dead end or not, it is part of the diversity of all of us. There is a natural reason for that diversity. It may not be clear to all of us, but you have to know that no one chooses to be gay, they are born that way. That being the case, it is pretty obvious it is nature's choice. Maybe it's the point of view that gay people bring to our species. Five percent of the population is not going to mean the end of the species. Gay marriage will not spell the end of traditional marriage. It is not contagious.

Also, I really, really don't mean this in an offensive way, but do you believe in evolution or are you a creationist? Please feel free not to answer if the question offends you. That's really not my intention at all.

Well if this topic is going to turn to the Nature of Man then it is time to get back to the topic which is the State Legislature passing the Civil Union bill.

The Civil Union bill is not defined by sexual orientation. It is actually based on contract law and broadens the scope of civil unions (contracts). This is a case of separation of church & state. The churches can do as they like. The state is doing what it is doing. So there is still time to write the legislature or governor stating your support or lack thereof.

Imagine if you will two people in their 70's who have no children, blood family or heirs. They might be dear best friends for life. A civil union would allow them legal rights in a number of situations involving medical/hospital, inheritance etc. The issue has been wrapped up in all kinds of overtones which obscure the fact that it is a contract issue under the constitution.

Assume the best and ask questions.

Kalama boy;
your question is rather ignorant.
Step back, contextualize, and think.
If you have to ask the same question again, Well......

dugger:"irrational hatred has always been particularly hard for me to move on from."
I stand with you here and applaud your earnest attempts to enlighten, and hope you don't get too disappointed when your attempts are thwarted. In the end, it's always the hater who stands to lose.

Live free and allow others to live free. Don't hurt ourselves nor others. There is no right, no wrong. There's only individual perceptions based on personal experiences.

silverpenny10, Labeling people who have different opinions than yours will not serve you well here. Take note.

Assume the best and ask questions.

Wow. Is that what you told Guy Enriques?

Go ahead, spin it. Everyone here knows what you did to him. Your posts are on record.

I honestly do not care if someone is homosexual or heterosexual. I told my childhood friend when he came out to me in high school that I could give a rats ass. I got beat up in high school twice because he was my friend. I have a lot of gay male friends and my wife has a lot of gay female friends. All of which consider us "Family". My childhood friend was the best man at my wedding.

Because I don't care about anyone's sexuality I believe that this bill is one of the most ridiculous pieces of legislation I have ever heard of. Really, why do we need this legislation in order for everyone to be treated equally under the law? If we apply our laws equally to all we would not feel the need to pass such a bill. If homosexuals want to have civil unions and the law prevents this then we need to re-word the law to not exclude them. I'll support this bill if it is the only way to allow equal treatment under the law but really I think it would make a bigger impact if the bill just re-words whatever law prohibits civil unions to homosexuals. Why? Because if this bill just overrides the current law then the current law as it is written is still on the books. It doesn't go away. Maybe it sounds like semantics to some but to me but I am a firm believer in all laws being applied equally to all. JMHO

That is exactly the point of the civil unions measure, and it all the reason needed to pass it and implement cu's.

You know when you are in Puna when a dialog like this NORMAL. HA Ha. I loved the funny parts. I've always been too embarrassed to talk about my left handed friends. I am now encouraged. Still, my goat herder friends cannot accept the lefties.
Peace and long life
