Anyone have contact info for a guy who built a Monolithic Dome in Fern Forest?
Some time back, more than a year ago as I recall, he advertised for sale an airform and some equipment specific to the Monolithic ferro-cement dome building technique. He did not, however, respond to previous attempts to reach him by email or phone.
Anybody know anything? Anyone else have any experience with the Monolithic system?

There was a thread in the last 6 months that included extensive discussion of the monolithic domes and other ferro cement structures, as I recall, someone who used to work with those guys posted on the thread. It was one of those threads that wandered so I would make sure you set your search parameters broadly, not just in topic titles, although I would guess it was in this forum.

Monolithic from my understanding utilizes big Shockcrete blowers, this is pretty intensive. They can be over 200' diameter. You do eco-shells (concrete and rebar) up to 30' diameter. Small ones can be done, old-world style with wheelbarrows and hand trowels. I know someone that's got 10' airform and blower in Hawaiian Acres. He's looking to do a test eco-shell dome.

many way to skin a monolithic structure...or even polylithic. all about forms.

When I worked with Paolo Soleri in Arizona we just piled up something and used that for a form, digging it out later.

doesn't have to be all dirt or even any...wahtever you can bulldoze into a pile and make an acceptably "smooth enough" top.
then smooth out from the inside after removing the pile. just study on the engineering data for arches and domes...

You can also lay out your rebar and wire into the dome shape, then use zip ties and blue tarps mounted under the "frame" at close intervals as a form. Start the covering of the rebar dome and make your way from bottom to top. All of the openings would obviously be framed in the rebar dome frame. There is no reason you need a thickness of more than 3 inchs in concrete, shotcrete or stucco. Always another way to skin a pig...
