Glad to know Phil is a good guy, I just don't think sending people to Punaweb to "rant" is a good for Punaweb. With all the intensely negative posts we've been generating all on our own lately, we don't really need to import "rants" so some other website is kept "clear".

Did I miss something? It looks to me that Phil is directing interested parties to his yahoo groups forum. He went so far as to include the forum's web address in his post. Not part of Punaweb at all. I do not see where he is sending people to Punaweb to rant. Did I miss something, or did you?

I think you missed this part:

"I have directed people to place their comments, rants, and general questions here."
Assume the best and ask questions.

I went back to the original pbmaise post, and excerpted the following parts:

"I have created a users group... It is a controlled forum and I have directed people to place their comments, rants, and general questions here"

It is obvious to me that it is intended that people place their comments, rants, etc. on the controlled forum he created, NOT on Punaweb.

Am I missing something?

I think it is the difference between "here"- Punaweb and "there" - the new site.
Assume the best and ask questions.

Thank you Rob. I did miss that portion of the post and stand corrected.

Aloha,
Wow, you guys are going to be great to quickly answer the dozens of questions that will flow from the material I have developed.

The first thing to make you all aware of its something called the Volcanic-Alert Level.

Hawaii's volcanoes are classified by the USGS into 4 different Volcanic-Alert Levels. For seller and agent protection, it is probably best to remove any references to previous common used terms like extinct, dormant, and active. This will bring property descriptions into conformance with a government body charged with providing this type of determination. The 4 Alert-Levels are:

Normal
Typical background activity of a volcano in a non-eruptive state
After a change from a higher level: Volcanic activity considered to have ceased, and volcano reverted to its normal, non-eruptive state.

Advisory
Elevated unrest above known background activity
After a change from a higher level: Volcanic activity has decreased significantly but continues to be closely monitored for possible renewed increase.

Watch
Heightened/escalating unrest with increased potential for eruptive activity (timeframe variable) OR a minor eruption underway that poses limited hazards.

Warning
Highly hazardous eruption underway or imminent.

Many reading this live or work with properties on Kilauea. It is currently, May 2011, at a Volcanic-Alert level of Watch. Watch is a fantastic word. We love the person that picked that word. Send that person a card and Hawaiian flowers. There is now a firm foundation to establish lower insurance costs and increase credit. Watch is used when we have hurricane watches or tornado watches. Underwriters have heard of this before and live and work in areas that have watches too. They accept that risk and now understand why you can live in an area with a watch. That is fine because that is true. It is your job to show where the hazard is, demonstrate it is an acceptable risk and demand services.

If you're in a hurricane watch you will not be buying insurance.

Aloha All,
With the yahoo users group, I am attempting to make sure there is a strict control that information posted there is only factual. When items are only a matter of opinion I am trying to make sure they say exactly that. It is also information that can be updated as status changes.

I know I have a very volatile subject and have worked many new hours on formulating a logical and sound way that the entire area may be assisted. While doing the research I found previous articles and quotes in newspapers. For example if you do a google search

hurricane insurance hawaii

On page one of the results is an article I wrote 2 years ago.

This indicates one of two things, either

1. There is little material being published, or
2. Thousands of people have been reading articles I have written.

I think the answer is both.

One difficulty with a public forum is the inability to go back and make corrections and updates to prior posts. I see my current latest post here already has an error. I changed the name o the users group. Here is the new link:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Hawaii_Lav...ing_Issue/

If possible, could a moderator of this forum correct the link I supplied earlier.

****************************************************************************

I have spent over 60 hours in the last 2 weeks writing and organizing the users group.
Please do not cut and paste large sections of the documents I have placed on line.
Again, these matters are of great importance to many people and I want to be able to
make corrections and expand areas that are not understood.
****************************************************************************
Here are the major elements:

1. Recognition of fact Lava Zones 1-9 designations were not intended for the real estate community and lack any ability to indicate where properties are in current peril.

2. Recognition of the fact volcanoes are not extinct, dormant, nor inactive. There are now four official terms that should be used.

3. The formation of new lava zones 11, 12, and 13. These zones address fact use of 9 zone system led to redlining and inaccurate property descriptions.

4. Public education, and collection of data.

5. Evidence why Hawaii Island residents should have the option to decline hurricane coverage. Or, hurricane insurance rates should be based upon the actual risk to Hawaii Island residents and not based upon using Hawaii Island residents to subsidize people that live in other areas.

I must stress greatly that the subject material effects the lives and property values of thousands about thousands of residents as well as millions of dollars paid in insurance premiums. Therefore, read the materials presented before jumping to conclusions. If you find areas that need clarification tell me.

Thank you for those that are greeting me on my return to the Big Island! It is good to be back with you even if for now it is just via the Internet. I am not physically back on the Island yet. I have several matters to clear-up before I can leave and some stops to make along the way.

pbmaise,
You can edit your own posts here by logging on, opening your own post, then clicking on the pencil icon. Many people then include a single line explaining what the edit was at the bottom of the post, for example: edited to correct a bad link.
